« This year, 2017., I participated in the atelier of Jean-Marie Oriot called “Creating immersive worlds”. First of all, I want to reflect on this beautiful artist, and person, who is one of the most impressive people I have ever met.
Jean-Marie Oriot is a performance artist, installation maker, set designer, stage decorator, props maker, and so much more. From day one, I could feel his positive energy. Never in these 7 days have I heard him raise his voice, and yet, you could always hear him. You always wanted to hear him. He is this natural leader, never imposing as one, but so easy to follow. Playfulness and seriousity, deep and humoristic, strict and calm, fantasy and reality, senses and mind, these are opposites that Jean-Marie puts so easily together. By following them you do go in one new immersive world of yours.
In his atelier we were learning how to create a poetical space in which performer becomes an inhabitant, the audience a traveler and the character of her or his own story. How to make an installation that would be an experience for the audience and an experimental space for the artist? »

Source : I usually leave a notebook and a pen at the exit of a performance or installation for the public to comment, share their impressions and feelings. It helps me figure out what works and what doesn’t, what is relevant or not in what I do. These lines come from various performances and installations.
